PET SUPPLIES TO BUY FOR YOUR NEW PUPPY
*PUPPY PLAYPEN OR DOG CRATE*
A playpen is my first choice for puppies. It provides your puppy with a safe and comfortable area with enough room for bed/food/water/training pads. Your puppy needs their own secure space especially during house-training or when you leave home to run errands, dinner, etc.. If you prefer a crate, look for a crate that is spacious enough for your puppy to stand, turn around and lie down comfortably. Provide your puppy with a crate bed or blanket.
*DOG FOOD – PUPPY KIBBLE*
This is the dog food brand that your puppy consumes. Fromm – Puppy Gold – Chicken. It is a small-sized kibble that is easily eaten by them. The food they are currently eating will be provided to you in your puppy starter pack. You can purchase additional puppy food at most chain pet stores or order online from HERE:
If you currently use another food or would like to use something else, switching a puppy’s food gradually is a crucial step for their digestive health and overall well-being. Introducing a new brand or type of dog food abruptly can often lead to stomach upset, diarrhea, or refusal to eat. For a smooth transition, pet owners should begin by mixing a small amount of the new food with the current one. Over the course of several days or weeks, the proportion of new food can gradually be increased while reducing the old food. This slow shift allows the puppy’s system to adapt to the new ingredients and prevents any sudden shocks to their digestive system.
*TRAINING TREATS*
Dog treats are a fantastic resource for training, rewarding good behavior, and showing affection to your dog. However, it’s essential to choose the right treats to ensure your dog’s health and training success. Opt for small, easily digestible treats that can be quickly consumed during training sessions. Soft treats are preferable, as they are more appealing to dogs and can be easily broken into smaller pieces for portion control. Scrutinize the ingredients, avoiding treats with artificial additives, excessive sugar, and common allergens. Excessive sugar can lead to health issues, so opt for treats with moderate or low sugar content. Treats should be given in moderation to prevent weight gain and maintain a balanced diet. By selecting high-quality treats and using them sensibly, you can have a healthy and rewarding training experience with your four-legged companion.
*AIRLINE APPROVED TRAVEL CARRIER*
If you are having your puppy delivered via flight nanny or ground transportation, you will be required to purchase a travel carrier for your puppy. This is only a requirement for delivery service. The cost is around $30
*COLLAR/HARNESS & LEASH*
Choose a vest style harness or dress harness that fits around body for walks. If you prefer a collar, choose a lightweight collar that fits your puppy’s neck properly, Opt for an adjustable leash made of nylon or leather, around 4-6 feet long, to ensure control during walks.
*FOOD & WATER BOWLS*
Choosing the right pet bowl is crucial for our pets. Ceramic and stainless steel bowls are popular options due to their benefits. Ceramic bowls are durable, stable and won’t cause spills. They are non-porous, making them easy to keep clean. Stainless steel bowls are resistant to rust and corrosion, ensuring longevity. They are also easy to clean, making them ideal for sensitive pets. Both options are safe, free from harmful chemicals and bacteria. Investing in ceramic or stainless steel bowls enhances pets’ mealtime experience and promotes their health and well-being.

These containers keep food fresh and pest-free, ensure a neat and organized home and come in various sizes to accommodate different pet food quantities. Additionally, using a storage container allows for bulk buying and cost savings.

Firstly, it offers extra support for their joints and muscles, alleviating discomfort. Secondly, it helps regulate their body temperature, keeping them warm in winter and cool in summer. Additionally, it encourages good hygiene and protects your home from dirt and fur. Lastly, a pet bed promotes better sleep, leading to improved behavior and overall well-being. Investing in a pet bed is a simple way to ensure your dog’s comfort and health. If you use a crate, I recommend getting a crate mat for their comfort.
*ASSORTMENT OF TOYS*
Puppies love toys! Investing in a variety of toys for puppies is crucial for their development. Toys provide mental stimulation, aid in teething relief and encourage physical activity. Puppies need toys that challenge their minds, such as puzzle toys, to prevent boredom. Chew toys help soothe their sore gums during the teething phase. Interactive toys, like tug ropes or balls, promote physical fitness and bonding. Introducing a variety of toys prevents puppies from getting bored easily and keeps them engaged. Choosing age-appropriate toys, supervising playtime and ensuring safety are essential. With the right toys, you can provide endless entertainment and enrich your puppy’s life.

*PUPPY TRAINING PADS*
Your puppy is accustomed to using puppy pads, it is recommended to continue using them if you have a playpen until they are taught to relieve themselves outdoors. There are two options for puppy pads: disposable or washable. However, if you are currently training them to go potty outside, you can place the puppy pad beside the door they exit to encourage them in the right direction. Remember to reward them with a treat promptly after they successfully go potty outside.
*GROOMING SUPPLIES*
Regular grooming is essential for the overall health and appearance of your puppy. It helps keep their coat clean, tangle-free, and prevents potential health issues. *TEAR STAIN REMEDY*
Tear-staining in Maltese dogs is a common issue that can affect their appearance. Tear stains, which appear as reddish-brown stains on the fur around their eyes. Some effective tear-stain remedies include, Regularly cleaning the face and eye area, using tear stain remover shampoo, tear stain wipes & tear stain comb, filtered drinking water and ensuring a proper diet. By regularly cleaning, you can help your Maltese maintain a beautiful, tear-stain-free coat.
*PET ID TAG & MICROCHIP INFO*
Ensure that your puppy always wears an ID tag with your contact information. It provides a simple and effective way for lost pets to be easily identified and reunited with their owners. The customizable collars can include important contact information, offering peace of mind and reducing anxiety. Consider microchipping as a permanent form of identification in case your puppy is lost. If you decide to spay/neuter your dog, this is the perfect time to request a microchip. The needle is very big and painful to the puppy. In addition, placing a microchip in a very young puppy that is growing is not ideal because the microchip can move locations. If you wait until they are under anesthesia during the spay/neuter, they will be old enough for the microchip not to move locations and it will be painless for them. Talk with your vet but most vets wait until at least 6 months old to preform a spay/neuter.

Pet stairs provide a secure and stable pathway, significantly reducing the risk of accidents or falls. By using pet stairs, you enable your furry friend to reach elevated surfaces like your bed or couch with ease.
